Digital work
Inspired by my creative journey, this work delves into the complex interplay between self and authority. We navigate through a world shaped by rigid standards, where systems dictate the power of expression. These standards, paradoxically, create both order and alienation, breeding skepticism as they distance the system from the individual. Influenced by Mary Shelley’s The Last Man, I sought to convey my uncertain position within the atmosphere of power—both constrained and undefined.
Through the use of metal, wool, and rubber, the sculpture intertwines materials of contrasting textures, distorting the essence of the self. It reimagines the original form and function of a blurred object, evoking a tension between strength and fragility. This visual paradox speaks to the struggle of individuals bound by authority, yet subtly transforming, merging with the everyday, and emerging anew in a delicate balance of resistance and rebirth.
